Building a Stronger, Safer, and More Vibrant Strathmore

Committed to fiscal discipline, public safety, strong health care, smart growth, and preserving our small town character.

Position Paper: Community Character

Introduction
Strathmore is a community known for its small-town charm, friendly people, and strong sense of belonging. As our town grows, it is vital that we protect the qualities that make Strathmore special while planning for a bright future. Residents want to feel connected to their community and proud of where they live, work, and raise their families.

As a candidate for Town Council, I am committed to preserving our small-town character, expanding parks and green spaces, and reducing red tape so residents and businesses can thrive without unnecessary barriers.
Together, we can ensure Strathmore remains a welcoming, vibrant, and sustainable community.
1. Preserving Strathmore’s Small-Town Charm
Strathmore’s unique identity is one of its greatest assets. Growth should never come at the expense of what makes our town special. I will work to: • Promote responsible growth and development that reflects the character of our community.

• Support local events, traditions, and cultural activities that strengthen our sense of belonging.

• Engage residents in planning decisions to ensure their voices shape the future of Strathmore. Goal: Maintain the warm, connected atmosphere that makes Strathmore a great place to live while welcoming thoughtful growth.
2. Expanding Parks, Trails, and Green Spaces
Accessible green spaces and recreational areas are essential to quality of life. Parks and trails connect people, promote healthy living, and showcase the natural beauty of our community.

I will advocate to:

• Expand and improve parks, playgrounds, and walking trails to meet the
needs of our growing population. • Preserve and enhance natural areas to support wildlife and environmental sustainability.

• Secure funding partnerships with provincial and federal
programs to invest in recreation and open space initiatives. Goal: Ensure every resident has access to safe, beautiful, and well-maintained parks and green spaces.
3. Reducing Red Tape for Residents and Businesses
Navigating municipal processes should be simple and efficient. Unnecessary bureaucracy frustrates residents and discourages local business growth.

I will:

• Streamline permitting and licensing processes to make them faster and more transparent.

• Review municipal bylaws to identify and eliminate outdated or unnecessary regulations. • Create a customer service approach to local government that prioritizes helping residents and businesses succeed.

Goal: Build a responsive, service-oriented Town Hall that works for the community, not against it.
Why Community Character Matters
A strong sense of place fosters pride, investment, and connection. By protecting our small-town feel, enhancing recreational opportunities, and reducing barriers for residents and businesses, we can create a thriving community where people want to live, work, and visit.
Community character is about more than how Strathmore looks — it’s about how we live together, support one another, and shape our shared future.
My Commitment to Strathmore
If elected, I will bring a resident-first mindset to every decision, guided by these principles:

• Respect: Honouring Strathmore’s history and traditions while planning for the future.

• Sustainability: Balancing growth with environmental and community well-being.

• Engagement: Listening to residents and ensuring their voices guide our policies.
Conclusion
Strathmore has an incredible opportunity to grow while staying true to its roots. By preserving our small-town charm, expanding parks and green spaces, and cutting unnecessary red tape, we can build a future that reflects the values and priorities of our residents.

On election day, I ask for your support to bring vision, balance, and action to Town Council, ensuring Strathmore remains a place we are all proud to call home.

Position Paper:  Economic Growth for Strathmore

Introduction
A strong and diverse economy is the foundation of a thriving community. Strathmore has tremendous potential to grow as a hub for business, innovation, and opportunity. With its strategic location, dedicated workforce, and a growing population, our town is well-positioned
to attract investment and create jobs. As a candidate for Strathmore Town Council, I am committed to encouraging new businesses to invest here, supporting local entrepreneurs, and leveraging regional opportunities, including the exciting potential from the De Havilland aircraft manufacturing expansion in Wheatland County. Together, we can build a stronger and more prosperous future for Strathmore.
1. Attracting New Businesses and Investment
Strathmore’s proximity to Calgary and major transportation routes provides a unique opportunity to attract new businesses. I will work to: • Promote Strathmore as a business-friendly community with clear, transparent processes for permits and approvals.

•Target industries such as manufacturing, technology, and agri-business that align with our strengths and resources.

• Collaborate with regional economic development organizations to
market Strathmore to investors and entrepreneurs.

Goal: Position Strathmore as a desirable destination for new businesses seeking a supportive and growing community.
2. Supporting Local Entrepreneurs and Small Businesses Local entrepreneurs and small business owners are the backbone of our economy. Their success keeps dollars circulating in our community and creates jobs for residents.

I will:

• Advocate for programs and policies that support local businesses, including reduced red tape and streamlined licensing.

• Create opportunities for business mentorship and networking,
connecting entrepreneurs with resources and investors. • Encourage residents to shop local through public awareness campaigns and community events.

Goal: Strengthen our existing business community while nurturing new local enterprises.
3. Capitalizing on the De Havilland Expansion

The De Havilland aircraft manufacturing project near Wheatland County is one of the most exciting economic opportunities in our region. It has the potential to create hundreds of jobs and attract spin-off industries. I will work to:

• Ensure Strathmore is ready to support housing, services, and infrastructure needed for the incoming workforce.

• Partner with educational institutions to develop training programs that prepare residents for high-quality jobs in the aerospace sector.

• Encourage related industries, such as logistics and advanced manufacturing, to set up operations in Strathmore, creating a cluster of economic activity.
Goal: Position Strathmore as a vital partner and service hub for the De Havilland expansion, maximizing benefits for our residents and businesses.
Why Economic Growth Matters
A growing economy benefits everyone. It creates jobs, generates tax revenue to fund essential services, and improves the quality of life for residents. By taking a proactive approach to economic development, Strathmore can reduce its reliance on property taxes and build a sustainable financial future. When our economy thrives, we can invest more in public safety, infrastructure, parks, and programs that make Strathmore a great place to live.

My Commitment to Strathmore
If elected, I will bring a collaborative, forward-thinking approach to Council, guided by these principles:

• Innovation: Seeking new ideas and partnerships to drive growth.

• Practicality: Balancing growth with responsible planning and fiscal discipline.

• Community: Ensuring that economic progress benefits all residents, not just a few.
Conclusion
Strathmore has the potential to be a leader in regional economic development. By attracting new businesses, supporting local entrepreneurs, and capitalizing on opportunities like the De
Havilland expansion, we can create a vibrant economy that benefits current and future generations.

On election day, I ask for your support to bring vision, action, and results to Town Council as we work together to build a stronger and more prosperous Strathmore.

Position Paper: Fiscal Responsibility

Introduction
The Town of Strathmore is at a pivotal moment. With economic uncertainty and rising costs impacting families, businesses, and municipalities alike, it is essential that our local government takes a responsible and disciplined approach to financial management. As a
candidate for Town Council, I am committed to ensuring that every tax dollar is used effectively and transparently. My guiding principle is simple: we must live within our means and focus on essential services first.
1. Line-by-Line Budget Reviews
Strathmore’s annual budget is the foundation of our community’s operations. Too often, budgets are passed without the rigorous scrutiny taxpayers deserve. I am committed to conducting line-by-line budget reviews to identify unnecessary or duplicative expenditures,
asking tough questions about every line item, and making budget information more accessible to residents. The goal is to eliminate inefficiencies while protecting essential services such as
emergency response, infrastructure maintenance, and community programs.
2. Cutting Wasteful Spending
Taxpayers expect their money to be spent wisely. Wasteful spending not only erodes public trust but also limits our ability to invest in services that directly benefit residents. I will work to identify and eliminate non-essential or low-value projects, streamline municipal operations
through innovation, and explore cost-sharing opportunities with neighbouring municipalities.
The goal is to redirect savings toward core services and infrastructure without increasing taxes.
3. No New Capital Projects Until the Economy Improves
Large-scale capital projects can be valuable, but they also come with long-term financial commitments, including borrowing costs and ongoing maintenance expenses. In challenging economic times, we must pause and reassess. I pledge to oppose new capital projects unless
they are absolutely critical to public safety or essential services. We must focus on maintaining and repairing existing infrastructure rather than building new facilities until the local economy stabilizes.
Why This Matters

Every dollar spent by Town Council comes from the pockets of hard-working residents and local businesses. With many families facing higher costs of living, it is unfair to add to their
financial burden through tax increases or irresponsible spending decisions. Fiscal responsibility is not just a policy — it is a commitment to good governance and a sustainable future for Strathmore.
My Commitment to Strathmore
If elected, I will bring a practical, business-minded approach to Council. My decisions will be guided by accountability, prudence, and service to the community. Taxpayers have the right to know how their money is spent, and every decision will prioritize the well-being of residents
and the vitality of our community.
Conclusion
Strathmore deserves a Council that is proactive, responsible, and transparent in managing public funds. By committing to line-by-line budget reviews, cutting wasteful spending, and
pausing non-essential capital projects, we can protect our community’s financial health and ensure Strathmore emerges stronger when the economy improves.

On election day, I ask for your support to bring fiscal discipline, common sense, and accountability to Town Council.

Position Paper: Health Care

Introduction
Access to quality health care is a fundamental need for every resident of Strathmore. As our community grows, so does the demand for accessible medical services, senior care, and emergency response. Unfortunately, many families face challenges such as long wait times, difficulty finding a family doctor, and limited specialized care options. As a candidate for
Strathmore Town Council, my vision is to make Strathmore a regional health hub, where residents and surrounding communities can access the care they need close to home. This requires strong advocacy, collaboration with provincial health authorities, and a commitment
to attracting and retaining medical professionals.
1. Making Strathmore a Regional Health Hub

Strathmore is strategically located to serve as a central health care destination for Wheatland County and surrounding rural communities. I will advocate to:

• Position Strathmore as a regional health care hub by attracting new health care services and specialists. • Partner with Alberta Health Services (AHS), community organizations, and neighbouring municipalities to bring regional services into Strathmore. • Promote long-term planning to meet the future health care needs of our growing population. Goal: Build a strong, accessible health care
network that supports not just Strathmore, but the entire region.
2. Attracting and Retaining Doctors and Medical Professionals
Access to family doctors and specialized health care is a growing concern. To address this, I will:

• Work with provincial and local partners to recruit and retain doctors, nurses, and allied health professionals.

• Advocate for incentive programs that make Strathmore an attractive
place for health care providers to work and live.

• Support training and mentorship
opportunities to build a strong pipeline of future professionals. Goal: Ensure every resident Strathmore has access to timely and consistent medical care.
3. Securing Provincial Funding for Hospital and Seniors’ Care
Strathmore’s hospital and seniors’ care facilities are vital resources that need investment to keep pace with demand. I will focus on: • Advocating for increased provincial funding to upgrade and expand hospital services. • Seeking additional support for seniors’ care,
including long-term care facilities and home care programs. • Partnering with the province to address gaps in emergency services, ensuring our community has the capacity to respond to crises. Goal: Strengthen the infrastructure that supports our most vulnerable populations while improving care for all residents.
Why Health Care Matters
A strong health care system is the foundation of a healthy, vibrant community. When families can access care locally, it improves quality of life, supports economic growth, and makes Strathmore a more attractive place to live and work. By positioning Strathmore as a health
care leader, we can meet the needs of our residents today and in the future.
My Commitment to Strathmore
If elected, I will champion health care improvements by: • Advocating tirelessly with provincial
leaders and AHS for better resources and funding. • Collaborating with health care professionals, community groups, and other municipalities to identify and solve challenges.

• Ensuring transparency by keeping residents informed about progress and decisions related to health care in our town.
Conclusion
Strathmore has the potential to be a model community for rural health care delivery in Alberta.
By advocating for stronger local services, attracting medical professionals, and securing the funding our community needs, we can ensure that Strathmore remains a safe and healthy place for residents of all ages.

On election day, I ask for your support to bring vision, action,
and results to Town Council, so together we can build a stronger, healthier future for Strathmore.

Position Paper: Public Safety

Introduction
Public safety is the cornerstone of a strong and thriving community. Strathmore is a wonderful place to live, work, and raise a family, and it is essential that we maintain a safe environment for our residents. As our town continues to grow, so do the challenges faced by local law
enforcement and emergency services. As a candidate for Town Council, my priority is to support our local law enforcement, first responders, and community programs to ensure that every resident feels secure and confident in the safety of our town.
1. Supporting Our Local Law Enforcement
Our local law enforcement officers work tirelessly to keep Strathmore safe. They deserve the tools, resources, and support necessary to effectively protect our community. I will work to:

• Advocate for adequate staffing levels to meet the demands of a growing population.

• Ensure officers have modern equipment and training to address evolving safety concerns.

• Promote strong relationships between law enforcement and residents through community engagement and outreach.

Goal: Build trust and collaboration between law enforcement and the public to create a safer and more connected community.
2. Proactive Crime Prevention
Public safety isn’t just about responding to incidents — it’s about preventing them. By working with residents, schools, and local organizations, we can create a safer town for everyone. I will focus on:

• Community-based safety programs that engage youth and at-risk populations.
• Expanding neighbourhood watch initiatives and promoting citizen involvement.

• Partnering with regional organizations to address root causes of crime, such as addiction and mental health challenges.

Goal: Reduce crime before it happens and strengthen the sense of
community responsibility for safety.
3. Emergency Preparedness
Strathmore must be ready to respond to unexpected events such as natural disasters, severe
weather, or other emergencies. I will work to: • Improve emergency response plans and ensure they are up-to-date and well-communicated to residents.

• Advocate for coordinated training exercises with fire, police, EMS, and regional partners.

• Support public education initiatives that prepare residents and businesses for potential emergencies.

Goal: Build a resilient community capable of responding quickly and effectively to crises.

Why Public Safety Matters
A safe community is the foundation for economic growth, strong schools, and a high quality of life. By prioritizing public safety, we create an environment where families feel secure,
businesses thrive, and residents can focus on building a bright future. Every decision I make as a member of Town Council will consider how it impacts the safety and well-being of Strathmore residents.
My Commitment to Strathmore If elected, I will bring a proactive, collaborative, and community-focused approach to public
safety. My decisions will be guided by:

• Support: Giving law enforcement and first responders the resources they need.

• Engagement: Building strong partnerships between residents, local agencies, and regional partners.

• Accountability: Ensuring transparency in public safety policies and spending.
Conclusion
Public safety is more than a service — it is a shared responsibility and a cornerstone of our community’s success. Together, we can ensure Strathmore remains a safe and welcoming place for generations to come.

On election day, I ask for your support to bring dedication,
collaboration, and action to Town Council as we work to keep Strathmore safe.
